We are currently seeking a new Director of Business Development to join our team. You’ll be empowered to drive the business development process through thoughtful prospecting and a consultative selling approach to secure new business. The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively in a start-up environment and must be able to roll up their sleeves to fulfill revenue needs while contributing to larger business processes and strategies.


Core Responsibilities


As a sales hunter you will communicate Diligent’s value proposition through outreach, proposals and presentations, managing activities throughout the sales cycle. This includes generating and prospecting leads via research and creative tactics, tracking and maintaining the sales pipeline, leading prospect calls, and managing the RFP, proposal and closing process.


You will be looked upon to provide feedback and suggestions and to ultimately enhance the business development processes and strategy, contributing to Diligent’s growth and long-term stability. You will be a thought leader collaborating with colleagues in order to help establish and deliver on sales and company goals. Examples include leading sales meetings, updating the team on client needs, and staying informed about developments to Diligent’s platform and services.


The day-to-day job responsibilities include, but not limited to:


  • Understand prospect business needs and objectives and effectively communicate solutions and value prop of Diligent’s platform in proposals and presentations
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key prospects throughout, including negotiating and closing on major contracts to achieve sales targets
  • Manage activities throughout the sales cycle: prospect leads, maintain sales pipeline, lead client calls, manage RFP and proposal process
  • Attend sales meetings, conference calls, training sessions and symposium circuits, as needed
  • Keep accurate records and documentation for reporting and feedback
  • Explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Provide valuable feedback and bring passion to the role to drive company growth and a positive reputation in the market


Skills & Experience Required


  • Driven self-starter, who loves a challenge and the opportunity to make a significant impact on our business and the business of our clients
  • Proven ability to drive the entire sales process from plan to close
  • Ability to communicate with, present to and influence all levels of an organization, including executive and C -level
  • Demonstrate experience as a consultative seller, developing client-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions
  • Experience researching, networking and prospecting to uncover new prospects and gain access
  • 3 + years’ experience in clinical trials and vendor qualification or similar
  • 4 + years’ experience in new business sales, preferably in B2B technology solutions or the Life Sciences
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving business environment
  • Highly motivated and target driven
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent
