Diligent Pharma is a technology growth-company serving an international marketplace in the critical Pharmaceutical/Biotech sector. Diligent operates a Software-as-a-Service platform which enables Sponsors and implementors of clinical trials to rapidly identify, evaluate and qualify clinical service providers. Our ability to leverage vendor qualification information across multiple sponsors brings efficiency to the quality/risk management process for all parties and significantly speeds the delivery of capability assessments. We have launched and proven a new model for vendor qualification that is transforming the industry’s de facto wasteful approach.

 

We are currently seeking to add a new member to our team as our leader of marketing, sales, and other business development. The VP of Sales and Marketing will lead our revenue-generation activities both strategically and tactically. This is a senior leadership role within the company with a C-Suite career track. The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively in an entrepreneurial environment and must be able to roll up their sleeves to fulfill revenue needs while contributing to larger business processes and strategies.

 

Core Responsibilities

The primary responsibility for the VP of Sales and Marketing is to design, build, and manage successful marketing/sales systems and teams. Designing entails establishing, evaluating and evolving the processes and team members that comprise the sales engine at every stage of the company’s growth and expansion. Building involves deploying, staffing and expanding the systems that drive revenue generation. Managing involves implementing, tracking, and optimizing the operation of integrated sales processes for success. This role will also drive Diligent’s business development activities through partnerships and channel relationships as appropriate. The VP will be accountable for activities throughout the sales cycle, such as implementing inbound-marketing programs, generating and prospecting leads, maintaining a healthy sales pipeline, running the selling system used by individual contributors, leading client interactions as required, managing the proposal and closing processes, and mentoring staff toward excellence. This role will execute and enhance business development processes and strategy, contributing to Diligent’s growth and long-term stability. This role must have the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues to realize team and company goals.

 

The day-to-day job responsibilities include, but not limited to:

 

  • Lead the marketing efforts of the company
  • Lead the sales efforts of the company
  • Lead other revenue-generating activities of the company, such as strategic partnerships
  • Equip team to partner with clients to understand their business needs and objectives
  • Equip team to effectively communicate Diligent’s value proposition through proposals and presentations
  • Develop team to maintain positive relationships with key clients, including negotiating and closing on major contracts to achieve sales targets
  • Manage activities throughout the sales cycle: prospect leads, maintain sales pipeline, lead client calls, manage RFP and proposal process
  • Attend sales meetings, conference calls, training sessions and symposium circuits, if applicable
  • Measure and report on effectiveness of sales professionals and processes
  • Keep accurate records and documentation for reporting and feedback
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests
  • Explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments


Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience running inbound- and content- marketing programs
  • Proven ability to build and manage sales teams and repeatable sales processes
  • Proven ability to drive the compound marketing & sales process from awareness generation through contract closing
  • Ability to communicate with, present to and influence all levels of an organization, including executive and C -level
  • Experience selling in the pharma/biotech markets related to clinical trials and preferably vendor qualification
  • At least 7 years’ experience in sales, preferably in B2B technology solutions for the Life Sciences
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a rapidly evolving business environment
  • Highly motivated and target driven
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent
